The Story Behind This Account
I kicked off this account in early 2018 when I was working as a personal trainer in Brisbane. At first, it was just me sharing workout routines and meal prep ideas with my clients who wanted extra motivation between sessions. Nothing revolutionary – just real gym content without the Instagram polish.
What surprised me was how quickly it caught on beyond my local circle. People from all over Australia started following, asking questions, sharing their own progress. The engagement was mental – way higher than I ever expected. I think folks were just tired of the fake fitness influencer nonsense and wanted something genuine.
By 2024, I was juggling the account alongside my in-person training business and honestly, it was wearing me thin. As they say, the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long. I had to choose between growing my gym business or keeping up with social media, and the gym won out.
Ended up selling it for $400 USD – pretty cheap considering the follower count and engagement, but I wanted someone who’d actually use it to help people rather than just spam protein powder ads. The buyer was stoked, so win-win really.

Questions Buyers Asked Me
Q: Were any followers bought or from engagement pods?
Nah mate, all organic. I was too busy training clients to bother with that dodgy stuff. Growth was slower but way more solid.
Q: What type of content got the most engagement?
Transformation posts and simple workout tutorials crushed it. People love seeing real results and easy-to-follow exercises. The overly produced content actually flopped.
Q: Why sell for only $3,400 with over 40K followers?
Could’ve pushed for more, but I genuinely wanted it to go to someone who’d keep helping people, not just cash in on it. The buyer had solid plans for online coaching, so felt right.
Q: How much time did you spend on it weekly?
At peak, maybe 5-7 hours a week including content creation, replies, and DMs. Towards the end, it dropped to 2-3 hours which is why engagement started slipping a bit.
